Young urged to reject violence
END THE CYCLE. The Courier, 28th Spetember 2015
TAKING A STAND: Through The Line campaign, young people are being encouraged to reject violence and develop healthy realtionships.
The Line campaign by Our Watch encourages young people to reject violence and to develop healthy and equal relationships.
The campaign's long-term goal is to prevent violence against women and their children by addressing the underlying factors that contribute to violence against women: gender inequality, violence-supportive and sexist attitudes and rigid gender roles and stereotypes.
The Line is for young people aged 12 to 20 and supports parents, caregivers, teachers and other influences.
The campaign defines, through "indelible marks", the behaviours that cross the line. It shows that violence can take many forms: it's not just physical violence, sexual violence, emotional abuse, controlling behaviour and victim-blaming are forms of violence too.
