"The shocking tales of elder abuse victims", Rebecca Turner, ABC News, March 4, 2018
4 March 2018
The cases of elder abuse outlined in this article were shared with a
Western Australian Parliamentary Enquiry. Statistically, elder abuse is
perpetrated mostly against women over 60 years of age, and counter to
other forms of domestic/family violence, perpetrators are mostly women
in the form of daughters. The same stories can be told Australia wide.
An Elder Abuse Prevention Forum facilitated by Ballarat Community Health
was held on Monday February 26 in order to set up a network of
community organisations and groups to tackle the problem in our own
community. WRISC attended this forum and is fully committed to raising
awareness about a largely taboo area which needs to be brought right out
into the open. Read the full article here.
