While granting some workers 5 days of unpaid leave to deal with the effects of family violence is a step in the right direction, the practicality and usefulness of unpaid leave is questionable. Women leaving or who have left abusive domestic situations are often in severe financial stress. The actual cost of leaving is stated in this article.
